In this section: Who's who at Fun and Families | Current Activities

The Centre for Fun & Families is a voluntary organisation that has pioneered and developed a range of group work programmes to help parents who are having behaviour difficulties with their children or young people. Our programmes meet the needs of a diverse range of parents and young people, this includes black minority ethnic families, disabled parents / young people and those with low levels of literacy. Our main groups that work directly with families include:

  • Fun & Family groups for parents of children aged up to 10 years. This 7 week programme, based on social learning theory, assists parents to look at what behaviors are difficult, why they may be happening and how to change them.
  • Living with Teenagers (LWT) groups for parents of teenagers. This 7 week programme, also based on social learning theory, helps to develop parent's skills to listen, negotiate and problem solve.
  • Avoiding Conflict with Adults (ACWA) for young people aged 10-17 years old. This 7 week programme is designed to help young people. Training and supporting parent volunteers to assist in helping young people gain an understanding of their behaviour.

We also extend our reach by

  • Coordinating parenting programmes for statutory and voluntary agencies in county areas of Leicester.
  • Training and supporting volunteer mentors to work one-to-one with teenagers
  • Parenting Groups Training and supporting parent volunteers to assist in delivering parenting groups
